Abstract
Five years later. In September 2012, in conjunction with the visit by Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Hospis Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, the then Minister of Health, Dato' Sri Liow Tiong Lai, announced the launch of a national-level paediatric palliative care programme. I was asked to be the Royal Patron of this programme. Sadly, five years later, apart from the Paediatric Palliative Care ward in Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru, there has been little progress in creating similar wards in hospitals in other states around Malaysia.
