Abstract
A school driver has become the first individual contributor in aid of the Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation’s Education Investment Program. Mr. Md Frioz bin Md Talib, 49, of Raffles American School at the Kota Iskandar has signed up for direct debit of RM35 every month when he visited the Foundation's booth during the Iskandar Carnival in Kota Iskandar on 12th Nov 2016. The donation was the first entry contributed towards the Foundation's Education Investment Program. HRH Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, Permaisuri Johor was so touched by the kind gesture that Her Royal Highness invited Md Frioz, his wife, Mrs. Nora Mysewan and his children to the Istana Bukit Serene today for a surprise audience and a lunch treat. Also present was HH Tunku Abdul Rahman ibni Sultan Ibrahim,Tunku Panglima Johor. “I am truly overwhelmed.... my donation was so little. Yet, Tuanku Permaisuri was so magnanimous in thanking me personally. I am truly lost for words…,” said the simple man with a big heart. HRH The Permaisuri Johor has offered to sponsor Mr. Md. Frioz and his family to performing Umrah to the Holy Land of Mecca next year. The Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation has been established to help build bridges between communities through educational initiatives in Malaysia and abroad, gets its funding from generous contributions by public and private corporations. It also aims to promote deeper knowledge and understanding of Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
