Abstract
The Factories and Machinery (Special Inspection Scheme)(Risk-based Inspection) Regulations 2014 contains a new provision whereby the employer has the option of complying with Section 19 (1) of the Factories and Machinery Act 1967. The owner can choose to have a Certificate of Fitness every 15 months as provided for under the Factories and Machinery (Notification, Certificate of Fitness, and Inspection) Regulations 1970 or determine for himself the validity period of the Certificate of Fitness based on existing risks.
