Abstract

Professorial inaugural Lecture Series Process Integration promotes symbiosis and synergy by maximising resource utilisation efficiency and minimising wastes among interacting processes, industry and system. In this lecture, state-of-the-art Process integration techniques develop by researchers from Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia will be highlighted. The talk focuses on the successful industrial implementation of systematic PI solutions to minimise consumption of resources such as energy, water, gas, solvents, CO2 and solid wastes. Among the prominent highlights include implementation and impact on the use of this technique to maximise utility savings and minimise capital and operating cost that resulted in annual cost savings of up to USD12 Million for an oil refinery, and a USD3.4 Million energy savings for a middle distillate synthesis (MDS) plant. Researchers, students, and industry players are all welcome.
