Abstract
This report highlights the benefits of a community development fund (CDF) in alleviating the pressures of social displacements in top-down urban regeneration development. The scale of big urban regeneration projects and the scale of displaced communities are different. The former is at a national/state or city level whilst the latter can be at the scale of neighbourhoods. Therefore, the existence of a CDF to complement wider urban regeneration strategies is critical towards making city development more inclusive. This report was prepared by the researchers of the Khazanah Research Institute (KRI): Dr Suraya Ismail, Nur Fareza Mustapha and Puteri Marjan Megat Muzafar. It was approved by the editorial committee comprising of Dato’ Charon Mokhzani,Junaidi Mansor, Allen Ng, Dr Lim Lin Lean, Professor Danny Quah and Professor Jomo Kwame Sundaram. It was authorised for publication by Dato’ Charon Mokhzani.
